We are big fans of this place, have been coming for years. Thursday is our night, great drink specials and very sociable and talented mariachis. We receive a friendly greeting at the door and are served by our favorite waitress each time. The manager always comes around to see how we are enjoying everything. Our grandkids love the place as well, especially the mariachis. We have taken several guest there as well and they all enjoyed the food, service, and atmosphere. Highly recommended.

7 of us for dinner about 3 saturday nites ago..The restaurant wasnt full at all.. The food, drinks and wine were perfect..The Margaritas are HUGE and delicious..The food fresh, tasty and at our table in a very short time. Some of the folks at our party had been to the one in Oviedo which had impressed them a lot, enough to check this location out. We all left happy and full, and the bill was so low for what we had, that we most definetely will be by again one of these nites when we visit the family in Seminole County.

Good fancy guacamole on the app menu. The chimichanga was pretty good. Service was a little slow and the seating was tight. Not much atmosphere. Food was affordable.

Our favorite restaurant! The food is delicious; however, I rarely deviate & usually get the fried beef chimichangas. $10 bucks, there are 2 of them & they are huge; much more than I can eat. Bonus, I always have the 2nd one to take home for another meal. The queso dip is by far the best anywhere. The staff are all friendly & inviting; the manager, Gabriel, always stops by to say hello & make sure everything is perfect. Karen, Sandra, and Maria are always so nice and friendly. Also, we visit so much, they already know what I'm going to order :) We also get take-out from here on a regular basis too and our order is always perfect and piping hot when we arrive home. On Wednesdays, they have a mariachi band who plays and they are wonderful. The female in the band has the most beautiful voice - ask them to play you something by Selena so you can hear her sing :) It's a great casual atmosphere. I've gone in dressed up and dressed very down; I never feel out of place. They have a terrific bar area and also an outside eating area. You won't regret trying this restaurant!! We are so comfortable and relaxed here, we usually end up staying 2-3 hours just talking and enjoying ourselves. Especially on Wednesdays when the band is playing. It almost feels like a home away from home!

Well- went to Habaneros for the second time last night for a quick dinner, the first time being a post-graduation brunch with family. Both times, portion sizes were generous given the price, and I was very happy with that. Good margaritas for a good price, can't complain there. The back patio has a great atmosphere, I recommend eating out there if possible! My one complaint would be: as a vegetarian, their beans are pretty bland. Little to no flavor. Kinda just a filler. And as beans are basically the staple of a meal for me at a Mexican place, it's something I notice. However, enchiladas are great, fajitas are great, guac is YUM, free chips and salsa when you arrive, and an overall friendly staff. I recommend this place for good, cheap eats that will leave you satisfied.

This quiet little Mexican restaurant has some tasty delights and an extensive menu (including good vegetarian options). I especially recommend the sincronizada. The service is good and the prices are reasonable. The food tastes fresh, though it could certainly be spicier. The atmosphere is typical for this type of restaurant. Each time we've come here, we leave very satisfied and stuffed.

I actually enjoyed coming to this place. When we walked in for the first time visiting this place, we got greeted by two incredibly nice waitresses who led us right to our table. Within seconds, delicious salsa and chips were delivered to our table. The chips were still warm, and the restaurant overall looked very clean. Our servers (we must've had at least four servers) were the nicest people ever, and our main waitress got a hand delivered tip. They also get four stars from me, which is hard to get, coming from me. They were very fast with their service. We've already been there three times since we first visited, which was about two months ago, and it really only gets better. I recommend this place to any traveler who is lodging in Winter Park. It's about $25 for two people. And their food is fantastic.

Stopped into Habaneros with a couple of friends one Sunday afternoon for a late lunch... early dinner and it was an enjoyable experience. The place was not busy at all and it was about 3pm. We got seated at a booth and a nice young lady took our drink order. We got the margarita special... 2 for 1 and they were quite good! They come in large mugs and was a great value for the money...plus, they actually had a decent amount of booze in them! Two of them gave me a nice buzz! I had ordered the chimichanga and it only took about 10 min for our food to arrive. Everything was hot and it tasted great! My only complaint was that there was a white liquid on the plate which looked like sour cream or salad dressing... not sure which but I assumed it was part of the meal. Habaneros is not as good as my local Mexican place but on a scale of 1 to 10, this was a 9. (My place is a 10!) Everything was good and the service was fast. This was my second visit to the place and both times it has been a good experience. Enjoy!

I had passed by this restaurant many times but was not sure if I wanted to try them out judging by outside appearances. My father in law ate there and said he enjoyed it, so we decided to give it a try. Since then my family and I have gone twice and have enjoyed our visits there. The inside is very clean and I enjoy the atmosphere. The staff was friendly, though I am not sure how well they speak English. Free chips and salsa. The service was quick, the food was good. We ordered enchiladas which came with rice and refried beans. It was a little plain, but we enjoyed it; especially my husband. I would recommend it.

Food is mediocre at best. There are TONS of better Mexican restaurants in Orlando. My true issue resides with the service. We were with a large party, reserved weeks in advance. for 30 people - 1 server? seriously? they did bring in a second but it still was PAINFULLY slow. after 20 min of empty drinks, we went inside to the bar to order a beer, they very apparently did not want to serve us because we were eating on the patio. that's understandable if it didn't take half an hour to get a drink!!! My food came out cold but i was starving, ate it and left unsatisfied.

Horrible Mexican food. Horrible service. Save yourself the disappointment and go get some street tacos at the Mexican market in the same plaza.

The two times I have visited the service has been great but the food....not so much. The salsa is so bland it's more like a slightly flavored tomato sauce. Food is much the same, the last time we were here we shared chicken fajitas and the chicken had a very strange flavor, it was so off putting I only ate half of one fajita. Unfortunately, since moving to Florida, I have yet to find a Mexican restaurant in my area that is worth going to...so sad!

Not sure what the rave reviews are about? Not that great a place. Pros - Great customer service - the waitress was very attentive. The food came out incredibly fast. The chips kept coming. Queso was okay.Really grand looking entrance once you step in the door with a popping entry way. Nice bright walls with lots of decoration. Definitely a local place - lots of Hispanic people hanging out here. Lots of seating and a good amount of people there. They have a really pretty bar thats to the side of the tables so if you just want to hang out, watch the game and talk you can. Not sure how I felt about the Sangria - it was reasonably priced and came in a huge glass. It was a bit strong. Ordering a la carte is the way to go - very cheap this way. Meals are average priced. Huge portion sizes. Cons- The food was below average. The quesadilla literally had no flavoring. I even opened it up to look inside - no spice at all! The chicken was good. The chips tasted funny - Ive noticed these chips lately. Maybe its a trend in cheap chips? No idea. The waitress kept the chips coming but not the queso - the queso was extra and in a very small container for 3-4 bucks and never got refilled. It was drippy too and not quality. The beef fajitas tasted alright - my boyfriend claims they werent that great but I thought at least they have flavor. The food is a deal breaker. I couldnt even finish the quesadilla because it was the most bland food I have ever had. They only get three stars because the waitress was amazing and the food wasnt horrible - just really bland.

Amigo's is out, Habaneros is IN! Generally speaking, I'm a big fan of this local chain. The menu is the same across the board, though some kitchens are a little better than others. Food wise, this one was pretty good. Not as good as the one on down 436 in Casselberry but better than El Cerro (also part of the Habaneros family) on University. I had the mixed fajitas and unfortunately the plate was too hot and the meat became overcooked very quickly. However, there was a lot of meat offered, plus some really good chunks of veggies. That I liked. The chips were super fresh, and the salsa was good. And the margarita? Muy bueno, muchachos! They have really cleaned this spot up, Amigos had let it go in a bad way. Good save, Habaneros!

It takes a lot for me to really be in love with any Mexican restaurant. Habaneros is nothing spectacular, but it doesn't suck either. They seem to have pretty reasonable lunch specials. I'll definitely go again if I'm in the mood. I have to say, however, that I would go back just for the salsa alone. It's pretty tasty! The service is good here, too. It's fast.

Inexpensive and quick lunch that was hot and delicious! I had the Taquitos and my grandpa had the eggs and chorrizo. He liked his, too.

Great vegetarian options, super friendly servers, and a true neighborhood restaurant feel, make this one of my hangouts. It's not the absolute best food, but it's very good and a decent value. What makes this place is being greeted at the door by people who are genuinely glad you visited. Sometimes that's enough.

Habeneros has great food & drinks. Service was excellent. Chips and salsa yummy. Not much atmosphere but who cares when the food is so good

I have thoroughly enjoyed both meals that I had here. The table side guacamole is delicious. I would go back again just for that. The staff was nice and the restaurant was clean. Pros: -Delicious guacamole. -Wonderful fish tacos - listed in the à la carte portion of the menu. -Fast service. -Good margaritas - reasonably priced as well. -Lunch specials. Cons: -Restaurant was hot on our last visit. -Mole asada sauce lacked any chocolate flavor.

Looks a little uninviting from the outside but don't let that fool you. The food is excellent. The place is nice. The booths are big family sized. The made at your table guacamole is scrumptious. The super burrito is enough for two. The small chicken soup is light, absolutely the freshest tasting soup around, and large enough to be considered a regular order anywhere else. Steak fajitas are excellent and tasty. Steak and shrimp are perfectly cooked and delicious. Tilapia was flavorful, fresh and flaky, just like it is meant to be. Wonderful!!

Habaneros is excellent Mexican food. Tableside guac, great queso, delicious salsa to start off a wonderful noche at this Winter Park gem. Quesadillas were top notch and the fajitas habaneros were perfecto. Huge shrimps, yummy steak, scrumptious chicken and chorizo delicioso packed a punch in the fajitas habaneros. After some really bad Mexican restaurants in South Florida Habaneros totally redeemed them all! Love it!

As another yelper mentioned previously, the outside seems a little uninviting but inside is the complete opposite. Staff are very friendly and fast service. My dad and I were impressed with the food and service. Our favorite was the side table guacamole that is made fresh in front of you. It was amazing and had just the right amount of spice to it ( you are asked if you want jalapeños added to your guacamole). Overall amazing experience and will definitely be back

I'm from rom Houston Tx, so I'm picky with my Mexican food. First test is the great salsa and chips. Chips were crispy not stale. Clean restaurant and friendly staff. Horchata was on point! Fast service. Will definitely come again.

This was my second time going to Habaneros and I have had a good experience each time. The menus were new and clean. I ordered a combo for $10.50 which included an enchilada, chile relleno, and a taco. Had a Gold margarita, which was delicious and made with the perfect amount of tequila. Our server was great. There was also a guy who went around making tableside guac- which was tasty. He was very personable and fun. Great place. It does not disappoint.

Stopped by for lunch on a weekday. Got there about 1:30ish so wasn't busy at all. Food was pretty good. And it came out really fast. I had a combo of enchiladas & tacos. I'd come back for their drink & food specials (there were no specials when I went).

We love the food at Habaneros! Every time we visit the restaurant the food is well prepared, and the portions are huge. The only problem with the restaurant is the service. Tonight the waitress brought the food out, and had a bad attitude from the moment we sat down. She never checked back, or refilled our drinks one time. I don't understand maybe she was having a bad night, but we have had back service from other servers at this restaurant. Again the food is great, but the service could be much better.

Never going here again. within two minutes of our being seated (7:30pm on a Weds, the place was fairly empty), 4 people stopped by ... one with salsa and chips, someone else stopped by asking us if we wanted guacamole, someone else asking if we wanted drinks, and someone to give us menus. the place was not that clean and the menus were really grungy. :-S We did not want a large meal as it was "late" for us, we don't drink so we stuck with water, and did not want guacamole. Not sure if they were dejected about our lack of ordering so far, but We waited a long time for staff to show up and take our meal order, and finally resorted to flagging someone down to ask if they can find our waitress. We ordered a taco salad with chicken and 2 burritos from a special meal plate (grilled chicken). The taco salad was average with not much taste and no dressing at all (I used salsa from the chips to flavor it a bit). the burritos came out with one pulled chicken and one beef, and when we said something the waitress asked if we wanted another chicken burrito to replace it, we indicated that she can just take the beef burrito off the tab. She ended up giving us only 10% off the tab even though the meal was not at all what we ordered and 50% of it was unable to be eaten, but we just paid anyway. Regardless, the one that was chicken was not really good in any case. Maybe people are rating this restaurant based on the drinks and not the food. Oh, and on our way out, I noticed that the candy in the waiting area is for sale. If a restaurant wants to sell candies for 5cents, there is something wrong here.

Excellent authentic Mexican food. Clean restaurant, great service, good food. Have a guacamole person that makes fresh at table, the mojitos are perfect. If you at looking for good Mexican food this is the place.

I absolutely love Habaneros.... The restaurant (I like the pepper too), that is!!! I always order the Chimichangas and man are they delicious!!! I can eat my weight in the salsa and chips they bring out before you order!!! Although, I'd love it if the salsa had a little....who am I kidding?? A lot more kick!!! On one occasion our waitress heard us discussing my love of spicy peppers and she didn't believe I could or would eat a raw Habanero pepper.... Well, I showed her!! (I wouldn't recommend this to anyone not used to spicy food) So if you're ever in Winter Park and looking for a great Mexican restaurant, then I suggest you try this place!!!!

Tacos a la carte were excellent!! But service was not very friendly, I am not Mexican so I asked questions, my waiter was bothered about it! (rude). For that reason I wouldn't go back!!

One of the best Mexican restaurants that I have ever eaten at. I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys good food made fresh! Order the chili relleno, it is amazing!

Definitely go on Thursdays for the live mariachi band. Nothing like it anywhere else in town to my knowledge! Also, go on Monday or Tuesday for $3.99 margarita specials! Also, get the guacamole to share. It's made at the table to your liking (cilantro, onion, garlic, etc). I love their homemade sangria too. It is such a great value and it's strong! Food-wise, get the Bistec Vallarta if you like steak, mushrooms, and lots of flavor! The portions here are huge, so beware. Service here is also always on point.

    (5)
  • Brian R.

The service was very good, my meal came very quickly. Unfortunately the food was extremely bland and flavorless. I drive by the place all the time and there are always a lot of cars outside so other people obviously like it, but I won't be wasting my money there again...

  • Gabe M.

I've been coming to Habaneros for years...and it's the fastest service you'll ever experience. I have never once been disappointed with the quality of food or service. If you're looking for an inexpensive and authentic Mexican dinner at a casual place...definitely try this place. They have mariachi bands on Thursdays and free salsa and chips every day.

Good service and exactly what you'd expect from a small non-national chain Mexican restaurant. The standard chips and salsa came out and I was pleased to have hot, fresh chips even though it was just ending the lunch hours and there were very few other tables. The salsa has great flavors, but no heat, which isn't a bad thing - I'm sure I could have asked for some hot, but I was enjoying the nice mix of cilantro, lime, garlic and fresh tomato. I got their quick lunch which for me was a beef hard taco and a chicken enchalada with refried beans. The taco had a nice hard shell and a good layering of fillings - the beef was tasty, nothing amazing. The chicken enchalada had a very good filling - not just chicken, it was a moist mixture of shredded chicken and green peppers and onions. The only complaint was that the sauce on top was bland, not a lot of spice or flavor. The refried beans were also a bit bland, but good consistency. All in all, some good points, some mediocre points, but good enough that I want to go back and try a few more dishes before I add this to my usual spots or write it off.

It's pretty hard to have a problem with .99 beers and burritos :) Also we usually get the same server by the bar and she is super friendly.

Pretty good! Food is fresh and tasty, service is good and friendly. Chips and salsa are delish, as is all the rest of the food I've had here.

Habaneros was just another typical Mexican restaurant to me. Started off the meal with complimentary chips and salsa. The chips were served warm but the salsa was bland. The menu is fairly large and even has a vegetarian section. I ordered one of their vegetarian combo meals, and I was rather let down. The beans were not flavored at all and the cheese quesadillas was just melted plain cheese. Everything was covered in a red sauce that tasted more like tomato juice. My husband also ordered a combo meal and said everything with just OK. Our server was very friendly, but the service was very slow. Had to wait a long time for the drinks and bill. With all the choices of Mexican restaurants in the area, I don't think I will be returning to this one soon.

I love this place! The outdoor seating is amazing. The two-for-one margaritas on Thursdays are always a treat.

  • Kat C.

The 99 cent burritos are a good deal - I was full for $2 plus some chips. They weren't hot but they were good and that's about the only thing good. A sweet tea is $2.50 and our waitress Raquel didn't refill them once. She also couldn't answer our questions about the menu, didn't bring out sides so my friend had to get up and go get it because she rarely checked on us. And it wasn't busy. I MIGHT go there again if I'm ever short on cash. Service sucks

    (2)
  • Mike C.

I came here optimistic. That optimism lasted through the salsa & chips and ended at the first bite of my entree. The pollos locos entree was comprised of two bland as hell chicken filets, rice and a guacamole salad. The kicker is that on the menu there is mention of special seasoning on the dish but it realistically tasted like a lightly salted dish. I was very disappointed in what I'd ordered.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
